The Downtown Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of the many art exhibition venues in Downtown Los Angeles – commercial art galleries, museums, and non-profit arts venues. It takes place on the 2nd Thursday of every month.

The Downtown Art Walk began in September 2004 and has grown enormously since, with many thousands of people attending every month. Participants in the Downtown Art Walk are the more than 40 galleries and museums located throughout the central downtown area, within the walkable districts between the Grand Avenue / Disney Hall / MOCA, Little Tokyo, the Financial District, and centered around Gallery Row on Main and Spring Streets in the Historic Core. Most venues are open at least 12–9 pm, but some may open later than 12 pm or close earlier than 9 pm.

By reclaiming its past—as well as its buildings—Historic Downtown Los Angeles is a vibrant creative and entertainment center. Located near Broadway, Spring and Main streets, Historic Downtown Los Angeles is still adding residents, retail, restaurants, entertainment venues and creative businesses. It contains 21 theaters in the Broadway Theater District, multiple museums and non-profits and a growing residential community of artists. Historic Downtown L.A. is within minutes of every amenity of an international class city. Even with the neighborhood’s rapid growth, there’s still a small town atmosphere that first began at the turn of the last century by urban pioneers, and remains a integral part of the neighborhood’s DNA.
